History

Step By Step, Inc. was founded in 1993 and is a private, for-profit organization focusing on employment and training issues for persons with special needs. It is our firm belief that everyone who truly desires to work and is willing to put forth the effort needed to obtain and maintain employment, should be provided vocational opportunities.

We see ourselves as a resource, as advocates and as employment and training specialists working in partnership to provide a necessary service to referral sources, persons served, businesses and the community.

Accreditation

Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of human service providers in the areas of aging services, behavioral health, child and youth services, DMEPOS, employment and community services, medical rehabilitation, and opioid treatment programs. The CARF family of organizations currently accredits more than 5,900 providers at more than 19,000 locations on four continents. More than 8.3 million persons of all ages are served annually by CARF-accredited providers.  www.carf.org

WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING FOR:


Job Coaches- Part-Time, As Needed-seeking candidates to serve participants in Lorain and (western) Cuyahoga Counties.  Days, Evenings and Weekends are available.


Summer Job Coaches-Seasonal/Temporary-seeking candidates to serve participants in Lorain and (western) Cuyahoga Counties.  June 12th-August 15th, 2023. Monday through Thursday, 9am-2:30pm. Flexibility on end date, if needed, can be discussed during interview.

Qualifications:

  • A sincere desire to enhance the lives of Ohioans with Disabilities; adherence to all internal policies and procedures and the requirements of funding/referral sources and other external stakeholders; and an ongoing commitment to meet the stakeholder expectations of providing ethical, efficient and effective, high-quality services.
  • High school diploma or GED required, with 2 years related management or vocational rehabilitation experience and/or 2 years post-secondary education, preferred.
  • Valid Ohio Driver License with full automobile insurance coverage.
  • Must agree to criminal background checks, abuser registry checks, motor vehicle reports, employment reference checks, academic credential verification and automobile insurance verification, post-employment as needed, or requested by management, on an initial and ongoing basis.
  • Applicant must possess and furnish valid personal identification documents, and have lawful work status, per US Department of Homeland Security, Citizenship and Immigration Services requirements (I9 form) at the point of job offer.
  • Must have: Windows OS (no Mac support is available); internet access; cell phone, basic knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel); familiarity with MS Teams and/or Zoom. 
  • Must have reliable and insured personal vehicle. This position cannot accommodate bus riders.
